The CW has acquired the rights to broadcast the 18th annual Critics’ Choice Movie Awards, which will air Jan. 10.
Kudocast will air live from Barker Hangar in Santa Monica, hours after the Academy Awards nominations are announced. VH1 aired the event most recently. “We’re working very closely with the BFCA to give this telecast a cool, current party vibe that both celebrates the year’s best films and fits perfectly with our young adult brand,” CW exec development veep Thom Sherman said. Nominations for the Critics’ Choice Movie Awards will be announced Dec. 11, eight days after ballots are sent out to members of the 270-plus members of the Broadcast Film Critics Assn.
