Current TV puts Fugelsang in spotlight

Net developing new show with comedian

Current TV is developing a new show with comedian and political commentator John Fugelsang.

Fugelsang, who takes a left-wing perspective on issues, is a regular contributor on the cabler and guest host on a handful of Current series. His new program will air in the fall.

“My new show will be an attack on apathy,” he said. “Taking the flag back from phony patriots, taking the Bible back from the hypocrites and taking bath salts away from Glenn Beck.”

Current chairman Al Gore added: “He’s been a part of the Current family for a while now, and we see just how much his voice resonates with our audience. His new show will nicely complement our growing lineup.”

Current lost a provocative liberal voice when Keith Olbermann left the network in March.
