Syndicated talker's first weeks will feature Streisand, Sarandon, Handler
Katie Couric’s new syndicated show launches Monday, Sept. 10, with guests Jessica Simpson and Sheryl Crow, who’s written and performed the theme song for “Katie,” called “This Day.”
On Tuesday, Couric will interview Aimee Copeland, the Georgia graduate student who lost parts of all her limbs to a rare flesh-eating bacteria this summer.
“Katie’s” first three weeks will feature appearances by Barbra Streisand, Chelsea Handler, author E.L. James (whose real name is Erika Leonard), Heidi Klum, Jennifer Lopez, Demi Lovato, Susan Sarandon, Sofia Vergara and Wendy Williams, as well as Amanda Knox’s former boyfriend, and Sharon and Lexie Love.
The theme of the month: women who are reinventing themselves, as Couric has done several times now, transitioning from her perch as longtime co-anchor of NBC’s “Today” to a stint as anchor of the CBS Evening News. The one-hour show, taped in New York in front of a live audience, has been cleared in 96% of the country.
