Corus nabs ‘The Audience’

U.K. reality format travels to Canada

LONDON — U.K. reality show “The Audience” will air on Corus Entertainment’s W Network in Canada, with Force Four Entertainment producing a six-part series for broadcast next spring.

Deal was negotiated by ITV Studios Global Entertainment via its first-look pact with the show’s creator, The Garden.

“The Audience,” shown by Channel 4 in the U.K., also airs in Denmark, where it is produced by Blu.

A French version is being made by ITV Studios France for TF1. ITV has also sold the format to RTL4 in the Netherlands. A U.S. adaptation is rumored but is still to be confirmed.

In “The Audience,” 50 people follow an individual at a crossroads in his or her life for a week and try to help solve their problems.

Vibika Bianchi, Corus’ VP of original programming, lifestyle, reality and factual entertainment, said, “‘The Audience’ is another clever and surprising ITV format that we believe will resonate with W Network viewers.”
