Comedy Central UK embraces ‘Anger’

Sheen series to air on British cabler

FX’s “Anger Management” is headed across the Pond via Comedy Central UK, which acquired exclusive broadcast rights to the skein for Blighty.

Lionsgate’s international TV division has already sold Charlie Sheen’s latest sitcom venture to several foreign territories, including Canada, Latin America, Germany and Australia. Comedy Central UK director of programming Chris Collie called the skein “the funniest show on display” at this year’s L.A. Screenings. Series bowed June 28 in the U.S., drawing 5.5 million viewers while becoming the most-watched cable comedy series premiere ever in the adult 18-49 demo.

“We believe that Comedy Central is the perfect home for ‘Anger Management’ in the U.K.,” said Lionsgate International TV exec Peter Iacono. “We’re delighted to continue building the show’s momentum through groundbreaking sales in territories around the world. The show is off to a record-breaking start in the U.S., and we expect it to have similar resonance with audiences around the world.”

“Anger Management” joins the other hit U.S. programming on Comedy Central UK that includes Sheen’s former series, “Two and a Half Men.” The series is produced by Lionsgate Television in conjunction with Joe Roth and Vince Totino’s Revolution Studios, Mark Burg’s Evolution Entertainment, showrunner Bruce Helford’s Mohawk Prods. and Estevez Sheen Prods.
