Comedy Central launches new division

Enterprises unit brings aboard Fried as exec VP

Comedy Central has launched new biz division Comedy Central Enterprises, focusing on the cabler’s ancilary products as well as publishing, touring and other non-televised ventures.

Mitch Fried has been promoted to exec VP to run the division and will report to network president Michele Ganeless.

Newly formed unit fuses previously independent divisions, including consumer products, home entertainment, records, live entertainment and publishing. Fried plans to incorporate the cabler’s talent pool to fuel the activities of the division.

“By consolidating these extensions into a single business division with a common goal, we are in a better position to grow and strengthen the brand and provide our fans with what they want,” Fried said. “Forming the Enterprises division also provides benefits to our talent partners by offering them massive exposure to our fans and a multitude of opportunities and points of distribution.”
