Series debut is best for cabler since 'Diva' in 2009

Jennifer Love Hewitt drew 2.8 million callers, er, viewers Sunday night with Lifetime’s 10 p.m. premiere of “The Client List.”

The Sony Pictures Television series stars Love Hewitt as a single Texas mom who has a secret life working at a day spa that is a cover for a prostitution ring. Cybill Shepherd, Loretta Devine and Colin Egglesfield also star.

In key demos, “The Client List” had an aud of 1.2 million adults 18-49 and 1.3 million among the 25-54 crowd. In total viewers, it was the cabler’s most-watched series premiere since “Drop Dead Diva” in 2009.

Hewitt exec produces with Dannielle Thomas, Howard Braunstein, Jordan Budde, Efrem Seeger and John Tinker.

Competition was steep on Easter Sunday. Other prominent basic cable skeins airing that night included new episodes of “Mad Men” and “The Killing” on AMC. Over on the pay cable side, HBO’s “Game of Thrones drew 3.8 million viewers for its second telecast, and Showtime offered the season premieres of three of its series.

In their initial telecasts, half-hour comedies “Nurse Jackie” drew 653,000, “The Big C” garnered 581,000 while Renaissance drama “The Borgias” delivered 604,000. All series debuts were previously offered on several digital portals and each saw increases with repeat showings.
