Cinemax takes third swing at ‘Strike’

Original drama earns 10-episode renewal

Cinemax has renewed original series ”Strike Back” for a third season of 10 episodes.

”Strike Back,” the first series of its kind on Cinemax this century, represented the cabler’s foray into more serious drama. Cinemax and HBO produce the series with Left Bank and Sky, which airs the series in the U.K.

Left Bank’s Andy Harries serves as executive producer with Sky’s Huw Kennair-Jones on the series, which will film season three in South Africa and Hungary.

Season two of ”Strike Back,” starring Philip Winchester and Sullivan Stapleton, will wrap up on Oct. 12. A week later comes the premiere of Melissa George starrer ”Hunted,” created and exec produced by Frank Spotnitz (”The X-Files”), followed in January by ”Banshee” from Alan Ball (”True Blood”) and Greg Yaitanes (”House”).
