Midseason drama will get Tuesday showcase before moving to Friday
CBS has set a Feb. 26 premiere date for its buzzed-about drama “Golden Boy.”
The midseason entry will have two showcase runs in the Tuesday 10 p.m. slot before setting into its regular Friday 9 p.m. berth on March 8.
“Golden Boy” stars Theo James as an ambitious cop who has a meteoric rise to become the youngest police commissioner in Gotham history. Chi McBride co-stars as his partner and mentor. Warner Bros. TV skein was created by Nicholas Wootton (“NYPD Blue”) and is exec produced by Greg Berlanti.
“Golden Boy” will have two outings in the plum post “NCIS: LA” time slot while the regular occupant, “Vegas,” takes a breather before returning on March 12. The Eye is hoping “Golden Boy” will be a good fit with Friday 10 p.m. drama “Blue Bloods,” which also revolves around Gotham cops.
“CSI: NY,” now running in the Friday 9 p.m. slot, will have its season finale on Feb. 22.
In other CBS skedding news, durable sitcom “Rules of Engagement” will fill the Monday 8:30 p.m. void left by the demise of “Partners” with its seventh-season preem on Feb. 4.
The spring edition of “Survivor” debuts on Feb. 13 while the next round of “The Amazing Race” kicks off Feb. 17.
