Eye competition series remains solid summer staple

CBS summertime staple “Big Brother” has been renewed for a 15th season.

Move is no surprise as the venerable reality skein still attracts solid viewership in a season that has shed significant auds over the past few years. The current season, which ends tonight with a 90-minute special, is averaging 6.7 million viewers and 2.5 million in the 18-49 demo. Since its debut in 2000, the competish skein has consistently attracted young demos.

The 15th season of “Big Brother” will bow on Eye in summer 2013.

Competition series, hosted by Julie Chen, is exec produced by Allison Grodner and Rich Meehan for Fly on the Wall Entertainment, in association with Endemol U.S.A.
