Reality series adapted from successful British run

CBS is adapting U.K. format “The Great British Bake Off” and ordered a Stateside version to series.

Hourlong competition series will feature amateurs competing in baking challenges. International format has pulled strong ratings in Denmark and Sweden as well as the U.K. Format has also scored well in Belgium, Poland, Australia, Ireland, Norway and France.

U.K. version aired its season-three finale Tuesday, earning a 25% audience share. Broadcast was one of the highest-rated BBC2 originals in the last six years.

Stateside version of “Bake Off” will be produced by Love Prods. USA and exec produced by Richard McKerrow.

CBS’ most recent reality success is “Undercover Boss.” Stalwarts “Survivor” and “Big Brother” are starting to age, and the Eye is looking to refresh its offerings in the genre.
