Brendan Fraser steps away from ‘Legends’

Actor leaves TNT pilot after disagreements with showrunner

Brendan Fraser is off “Legends.”

Actor was cast a few weeks ago in the TNT pilot about a spy who transforms himself into someone else for each assignment. Project is based on the novel by author Robert Littell.

The separation comes as a result of differing philosophies for portraying the character. Fraser had disagreed with showrunner Howard Gordon, and the two decided that Fraser’s departure was best.

Bert Salke, president of producer Fox 21, said: “We have wanted to work with Brendan for a very long time. While this particular project may not have been the right fit, we are excited to develop cable properties with him.”

Gordon, who is also attached to Showtime’s “Homeland,” will exec produce with Jeffrey Nachmanoff, Alexander Cary and Jonathan Levin.
