Crime miniseries to be set in Paris

PARIS — “Law and Order” showrunner Rene Balcer and French thesp Jean Reno have boarded “The Grand,” a Paris-set, English-lingo, crime drama miniseries.

Created by Balcer in collaboration with French TV scribes Franck Ollivier and Malina Detcheva, the skein stars Reno as a meticulous and implacable elite cop who solves murders.

Each case is tied to an iconic Paris location, such as Notre Dame, the Catacombs and Place de la Concorde.

Reno’s career spans more than 30 years and includes thriller hits “Ronin,” “Leon” and “The Da Vinci Code.”

Klaus Zimmermann is producing the series, which comprises eight one-hour episodes, for Atlantique Prods., the Gallic outfit behind Tom Fontana’s costumer “Borgia,” which was just greenlit for a second season.

SevenOne Intl. will shop “The Grand” to buyers at MipTV in Cannes next week, where Balcer and Reno will be on hand to unveil further details of the show.
