Nash fields new volume of baseball book

Just in time for the start of baseball season, producer Bruce Nash has returned to his roots to field a new volume of “The Baseball Hall of Shame.”

Before Nash became a prolific producer of unscripted TV skeins, he and co-author Allan Zullo in the 1980s and early ’90s penned more than a half-dozen books chronicling the lighter side of blown plays, wild pitches and myriad other mishaps (on and off the field) by ballplayers going back to 1880s.

Nash was inspired to do a “Hall of Shame” update — Manny Ramirez, Ken Griffey Jr. and Adrian Beltre are among the new inductees — by three boys he and his family have gotten to know over the years during their regular visits to Dodger Stadium. When he saw how much the kids loved the stories in the old books, he realized there was a wealth of unmined material from the past 20 years.

And yes, Nash is hoping for another home run as he’s looks to adapt the book as a TV and Internet series.
