BERLIN — German TV shingle Autentic has acquired an extensive catalog of docu programming from the BBC.
The package, consisting of 58 hours of programming, includes current-event and historical titles, including “How Facebook Changed the World: The Arab Spring” and “Targeting Bin Laden,” as well as cultural programs focusing on the most famous museums of the world, and new archaeological excavations in Egypt. Autentic, a joint venture between Beta Film and former Discovery Germany topper Patrick Hoerl, is slating the programming for its pay TV channel Spiegel Geschichte, a historical niche outlet and one of two channels it runs with Spiegel TV, the television division of weekly magazine Der Spiegel. Autentic operates a number of niche feevee channels in various countries.
