‘Anger’ viewership falls 40%

Sheen sitcom remains top cable scripted offering Thursday

Overall viewership for FX’s Charlie Sheen starrer “Anger Management” fell nearly 40% in its second week to 3.4 million viewers overall.

FX aired the third episode of the sitcom at 9:30 p.m. Thursday, after the first two episodes on June 28 drew 5.5 million and 5.7 million, respectively, breaking a record for a scripted cable premiere in the 18-49 demo.

“Anger” was still the No. 1 scripted program on cable Thursday night in overall viewers, a reflection perhaps of the impact on the audience of the midweek Independence Day holiday.

Following “Anger,” FX earned 1.5 million viewers for “Wilfred” and 1.1 million for “Louie.” The latter dropped 20% week to week.

The most watched primetime program on cable Thursday was History’s “Swamp People,” with 4.3 million viewers overall.

In the 18-49 demo, “Anger” fell 35% week to week to 1.7 million viewers.
