AMC has renewed drama “Hell on Wheels” for a third season of 10 episodes.
The renewal comes even as the audience for the period program set in the post-Civil War era of railroad construction saw its audience decline in season two, which wrapped up Oct. 7. Viewership for the finale totaled 2.2 million.
“Hell” aired from November to January in its first season, then moved to an August premiere for season two. Season three has not been scheduled on the calendar.
Series stars Anson Mount, Common, Colm Meaney and Dominique McElligott, and is exec produced by John Shibian, Joe Gayton, Tony Gayton and Jeremy Gold.
