Aissa takes in Oxygen

Exec to head up original programming and development

Oxygen Media has tapped former OWN programming exec Rod Aissa to head up its original programming and development, reporting to network prexy Jason Klarman.

The exec helped shepherd OWN’s programming stable through its rocky first year and is now leaving just as the net is gaining traction with some of its new shows. Aissa was exec veep of TV at Ashton Kutcher’s Katalyst Films prior to joining OWN; before that he worked on series and talent development at MTV and MTV Films. He joined OWN in 2010 during one of a few management shakeups on the way to the net’s Jan. 1, 2011 launch.

At Oxygen, which Oprah Winfrey helped to launch, Aissa will work on the femme-centric cabler’s upcoming series, including “The Next Big Thing,” “L.A. Style” and “The Eva Marcille Project.” Returning shows, including the net’s much-hyped “Glee Project,” also fall under Aissa’s authority.
