ABC renews ‘Scandal,’ ‘Happy Endings’

'Wife Swap," 'Funniest Home Videos' also returning

ABC continued to renew returning series Friday, with “Scandal” returning for a second season.

The Shonda Rhimes-produced drama, from ABC Studios was introduced in the midseason but didn’t do well enough to escape “on the bubble” status. But the Kerry Washington starrer is getting another chance.

“Happy Endings” will also be back for a third season. The half-hour from Sony Pictures Television had “Modern Family” as a lead-in in the 2011-12 season. Alphabet is also returning two unscripted vets, “America’s Funniest Home Videos” and “Wife Swap.”

Seven series were renewed Thursday, including “Modern Family” and “Grey’s Anatomy.” Still waiting on renewals among returning series include “Scandal” and “Missing.” ABC may elect to give some of these series 13-episode orders.
