ABC orders ‘Weird Desk’

Drama series centers on mysterious cases rerouted from CIA

ABC has ordered 13 episodes of paranormal drama “Weird Desk,” targeted for a summer 2013 run.

“Desk,” from ABC Studios and Canadian shingle Shaftesbury Films, centers on a clandestine organization that handles mysterious other-worldly cases rerouted from the CIA and National Security Agency. Lead characters Morgan and Rosetta run the top secret division.

“Stargate’s” Carl Binder and “The Librarian’s” David Titcher are writing the drama, which has a straight-to-series order.

Shaftesbury’s Tom Mazza and Maggie Murphy serve as exec producers.

Pickup arrives as Alphabet continues to build its scripted lineup for summer. “Desk” joins frosh drama “Mistresses” and season four of cop show “Rookie Blue” in ABC’s summer slate.
