Since her breakout role in “Modern Family,” Colombian native Vergara has built an empire around her name with a slew of business deals and sponsorships as well as a YouTube channel, NuevOn, created by her LatinWorld company with biz partner Luis Balaguer and Ben Silverman’s Electus. With an estimated worth of $19 million, she graced the cover of Forbes Magazine as the top earning actress on U.S. television this year.

What we should know: “That we work a lot, sleep too little and it’s not glamorous at all. … But at the same time it is as fun and gratifying as it seems. I truly feel blessed to be in the entertainment business.”

Work week: “Sometimes more than 85, that’s why you have to love what you do and plan your vacations well.”

Life-work balance: “You need to organize yourself, setting your family priorities and then tweaking work constantly throughout your life … and you need to allow room for Plan B’s and to forgive yourself once in a while for not being perfect.”

Charitable passions: “Anything related to children and education inspires me. Suenos Sin Fronteras (Dreams Without Borders) is my favorite in Colombia.”
