NBC, ‘Community’ top Critics Choice Awards

Peacock scores five kudos, Showtime's 'Homeland' wins for drama series

Showtime’s “Homeland” and NBC’s “Community” won top honors for drama and comedy series Monday at the second annual Critics Choice Television Awards.

Travel’s “Anthony Bourdain: No Reservations” was honored as top reality series by the Broadcast Television Journalists Assn., while NBC’s “The Voice” earned the same recognition for reality-competition skein, helping the Peacock lead all networks with five kudos from the ceremony at the Beverly Hilton.

Other program awards went to NBC’s “Late Night with Jimmy Fallon” for talkshow, FX’s “Archer” for animated series and PBS “Masterpiece” offering “Sherlock” for movie/miniseries.

In the lead acting categories, Bryan Cranston (“Breaking Bad”) and Claire Danes (“Homeland”) won for drama, with Louis C.K. (“Louie”) winning for lead comedy actor and Amy Poehler (“Parks and Recreation”) sharing the lead comedy actress kudo with Zooey Deschanel (“New Girl”).

For supporting thesps, AMC network-mates Giancarlo Esposito (“Breaking Bad”) and Christina Hendricks (“Mad Men”) took awards in drama, while “Modern Family” co-stars Ty Burrell and Julie Bowen won for comedy. Hendricks, who shared last year’s drama supporting actress award with Margo Martindale of “Justified,” is the only repeat winner from 2011.

Benedict Cumberbatch (“Sherlock”) and Julianne Moore (“Game Change”) walked away with movie-mini acting honors, while series guest acting awards went to Lucy Liu (“Southland”) in drama and Paul Rudd (“Parks and Recreation”) in comedy.

Tom Bergeron of “Dancing With the Stars” and Cat Deeley of “So You Think You Can Dance” tied in the reality host category.
