'Magic City' preem event took place Tuesday in L.A.
The cast of Starz’s “Magic City” enjoyed shooting in Miami, but L.A. did the job for Tuesday’s premiere event. The 1959-set series screened at the DGA, and guests trekked to the Chateau Marmont for the afterparty.
Starz’s Chris Albrecht and creator Mitch Glazer introduced the skein’s first episode, spurring Glazer to reminisce about seeing the lavish Florida hotels and beautiful women when he was a young boy.
But the Florida weather had more immediate, practical implications for Danny Huston. “There’s no way I would have worn these rather embarrassing, Speedo-looking trunks had it not been for the incredible heat,” he said.
Florida-born Dominik Garcia-Lorido noted, “Miami always feels like a vacation.” Accompanied by father Andy Garcia, thesp recalled a Miami cousin, who used to say: “I just didn’t have class today. I’m just going to go to the beach.”
A Cuban jazz ensemble at the Chateau entertained guests Gerard Butler, Bill Murray and Fred Durst.
