Honorees at the BET Awards tried to outdo each other’s jokes during the three-hour kudofest Sunday at L.A.’s Shrine Auditorium.

When the pair won the Video of the Year award, Jay-Z broke in, in a play on West’s notorious interruption of Taylor Swift during the 2009 MTV Video Music Awards, “Kanye, imma gonna let you finish but…” Comedian Kevin Hart playfully dissed host Samuel L. Jackson with a rant mid-show. “All Sam can do is act! I am multi-talented! I can color, I can hand model, and I got divorced!” Hart said. “I’m better than you Sam, I am!”
