BritWeek gala honors CHH host

A few minutes into Friday’s BritWeek gala honoring CNN’s Piers Morgan, emcee Ross King joked about the News Corp. hacking scandal that’s the talk of the U.K.

But Morgan had a chance at rebuttal during a Q&A with Jackie Collins. “I see people turn on Rupert Murdoch, I don’t believe there is a criminal bone in his body,” said the man plucked from his job as a Sun gossip columnist to become editor of Murdoch’s News of the World decades ago.

Collins said she asked her Twitter followers for questions for the evening and the top query was, “Ask him why he is such a twat.”

Among the questions she did ask was if he wanted to be knighted, to which Morgan joked, “I think it’s long overdue.”

The evening included an intro by Jerry Springer, perfs by Katherine Jenkins and Michael Johns as well as an auction, proceeds going to the Children’s Hospital Los Angeles.
