With his best picture nom for “The Artist,” producer Thomas Langmann follows in the footsteps of his father Claude Berri, who was nominated in the same category for 1979’s “Tess.”
All of the praise for “The Artist” has been a “dream,” especially considering the initial hesitation of execs. While shopping the film, Langmann recalls that after he mentioned the project was black-and-white and silent, “The first question was, ‘Well, what is your next project?’ “
