Herndon Graddick has been upped to prexy of the Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation.
Graddick has spent the past two years as veep of programs and communications for the advocacy org. GLAAD’s board of directors elected him to the prexy post on Saturday after mounting a nationwide search.
“Herndon Graddick is already a well-respected leader within the LGBT movement, and we believe will be a visionary and strategic leader for GLAAD’s culture-changing work,” said Sheri Fults, national co-chair of GLAAD’s board.
Graddick takes the helm from acting prexy Mike Thompson. Before joining GLAAD in 2010, Graddick was exec producer for Global Observatory, a media initiative focused on raising awareness of climate change issues. He’s also worked as a producer for CNN, E! and Current TV.
