Fox tops at ASC Awards

'Fringe,' 'Alcatraz' score noms

Fox programs have been nominated for three American Society of Cinematographers Awards in television, while Cinemax, FX and HBO each picked up two.

David Moxness of Fox’s “Fringe” and David Stockton of “Alcatraz” were tapped in the hourlong TV series category, alongside Balazs Bolygo of Cinemax’s “Hunted” and Mike Spragg of the paybler’s “Strike Back.” Also receiving noms in the category were Kramer Morgenthau of HBO’s “Game of Thrones” and Chris Manley of AMC’s “Mad Men.”

In addition, Michael Goi received two nominations, one for half-hour series “The New Normal” on NBC and one in movie-miniseries for FX’s “American Horror Story: Asylum.”

HBO’s second nomination went to Rogier Stoffers in movie-miniseries for “Hemingway & Gellhorn” The remaining two nods in that category were for Florian Hoffmeister (PBS’ “Great Expectations”) and Arthur Reinhart (History’s “Hatfields & McCoys”).

In half-hour series, nominations also went to Ken Glassing of Fox’s “Ben and Kate,” Peter Levy of Showtime’s “House of Lies,” Bradford Lipson of FX’s “Wilfred” and Michael Price of ABC’s “Happy Endings.”

Goi, Manley and Morgenthau each have four career nominations, while Moxness and Stockton have previously won kudos from the ASC.

“There is an incredible amount of outstanding work being done for television, which is seeing a resurgence in compelling storytelling thanks to a wider landscape for distribution,” ASC prexy Stephen Lighthill said. “It’s exciting to see what’s being done in the field. Audiences have a plethora of options now and these cinematographers have demonstrated superior skills in visual entertainment.”

Winners will be announced Feb. 10 at the ASC Awards at the Hollywood & Highland Grand Ballroom.
