Susan Kunkel, a former executive at Disney Music, died of natural causes on Sept. 23. She was 59.
Kunkel spent 20 years in music publishing at Disney, where she last held the position of senior vice president, music publishing.
She began her music career at Wally Heider’s studio, where she gained her first glimpse at the music business. She later worked in music publishing for Barry Manilow until her move to the Walt Disney Co. in 1984.
Susan A. Borgeson grew up on the South Side of Chicago and attended the Art Institute of Chicago.
She was formerly a board member of ASCAP.
Kunkel was formerly married to musician-producer Russ Kunkel. She is survived by a brother.
