Steve Pokorny, who worked in production managerial positions at Warner Music Group and most recently Universal Music Group, died March 12 in Santa Monica from complications of knee surgery. He was 50.
Pokorny had worked as a production manager at UMG since June 2004, supervising international distribution of assets. Before that he spent seven years at WMG’s Rhino Entertainment, where he produced the Grammy-winning Richard Pryor set “And It’s Deep Too.”
An Army brat, Pokorny was born in Germany and raised in New York, Virginia and elsewhere on the East Coast, eventually making his permanent home in Los Angeles.
Pokorny is survived by his wife, Brenda Lowry, Syfy director of publicity; a 4-year-old son, Anthony; his father and mother; two sisters; two nephews; and two nieces.
A memorial service will be held Friday, March 23, at 12:30 p.m. at the Church of the Hills, 6300 Forest Lawn Drive, Los Angeles.
