Concert set for Dec. 12 at Madison Square Garden

Bruce Springsteen and Paul McCartney, as well as a handful of other music superstars, will perform at the Hurricane Sandy benefit concert on Dec. 12 at Madison Square Garden.

Also in the lineup, at the event dubbed “12-12-12,” are the Who, Billy Joel, Jon Bon Jovi, Alicia Keys, Roger Waters and Kanye West.

Monies raised by the show will be handled by anti-poverty group Robin Hood Relief Fund.

The Garden was also the home to a major musical benefit shortly after the terrorist attacks on Sept. 11, 2011.

Producers James Dolan (topper of MSG-owned Cablevision), John Sykes and Harvey Weinstein said in a statement: ” ’12-12-12′ is shaping up to be a showcase of musical royalty. The response of the entertainment community to help those most affected by Sandy has been nothing short of astounding.”

No TV network has yet been attached, but that announcement should be coming shortly.
