Goldenvoice expands brand to the Caribbean
Concert promoter Goldenvoice, organizer of the annual Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival, are expanding the Coachella brand into a Caribbean cruise, the New York Times confirmed on Tuesday.The cruise, dubbed the S.S. Coachella, will set sail for two tours in December, with festival acts Pulp, Hot Chip, Girl Talk and James Murphy performing on voyages from Miami to Jamaica or the Bahamas. The concert cruise, long something of a novelty, has experienced a boom in recent years, with acts ranging from Weezer to R. Kelly, Kiss and electronic dance music promoter Hard launching themed voyages. Goldenvoice’s move follows its expansion of Coachella to two identical weekends last April, which saw the fest notch $47 million in revenues over the 10-day period.
