ASCAP to honor Quincy Jones

He'll receive Founders Award on June 29

ASCAP will fete Quincy Jones with its Founders Award during the 25th Annual Rhythm & Soul Music Awards. Event will be held at the Beverly Hilton Hotel on June 29.

The award is presented to songwriters and composer with influential contributions to the music world. Past recipients include Sean “Diddy” Combs, Paul McCartney, Patti Smith, Rod Stewart and Stevie Wonder.

Jones has a record 79 Grammy noms to his name and a total of 27 wins. He is best known for producing Michael Jackson’s “Thriller” and the “We Are the World” charity single. He remains active as the force behind Qwest Records.

The 25th Annual Rhythm & Soul Music Awards will honor the creators behind ASCAP songs on the 2011 R&B/hip-hop, rap and gospel charts. Invitation-only event will feature live performances.
