AEG and partner acquire Front Gate Tickets

Texas-based indie firm is active in music fest business

Indie ticketing outfit Front Gate Tickets has been acquired in a joint venture by AEG (along with ticketing partner Outbox Enterprises) and C3 Presents.

The two companies will jointly own the business, with C3’s former head of ticketing Maura Gibson becoming Front Gate prexy. Front Gate was founded in 2003, with headquarters in Austin, Texas.

The acquisition, announced Thursday, should be particularly significant for the festival business, with AEG’s Goldenvoice helming the Coachella and Stagecoach festivals, while C3 is the power behind Lollapalooza and Austin City Limits. Both AEG and C3 have used Front Gate’s platform in the past for festival ticketing.

“We have been working closely with Front Gate over the years to redefine the ticketing experience for our customers,” said C3 partner Charlie Walker. “Their innovation in this space has kept us at the forefront of delivering a unique experience at our festivals.”
