Adam Block has been promoted to president at Legacy Recordings, Sony Music Entertainment’s catalog division.
Based in New York and reporting to SME Commerical Music Group prexy Richard Story, the veteran exec will oversee all catalog activity for Sony Music’s frontline labels and provide curatorial direction for Legacy releases worldwide. Block will also supervise and coordinate A&R and content development for releases ranging from boxed sets to new recordings by Legacy artists.
Block has been a key man in several Legacy reissue programs, including catalog releases from Michael Jackson, Johnny Cash, Bob Dylan, Elvis Presley, Miles Davis and Jimi Hendrix.

Block was most recently executive vp-GM of Legacy. He was senior vp of marketing-GM of the division from 2004-2010. He was named vp of marketing at the label in 1998. He joined the unit as director of marketing in 1992, and was promoted to senior director in 1995.
