Fundraiser for women's cancer research set for Nov. 17
The event, presented by Bing, will feature perfs by top comics to raise funds and awareness for the Noreen Fraser Foundation, which focuses on women’s cancer research. It’s a cause that is important to MacFarlane, who lost his mother to cancer in 2010.
“The past two year’s events have been such an incredible success, raising almost half a million dollars for women’s cancer research, and we’re excited to once again gather some of our industry’s finest comedians — this time to honor the multi-talented Seth MacFarlane — and add to that growing total,” said Variety associate publisher Michelle Sobrino-Stearns. “Beyond what is sure to be a night filled with laughter and surprises, we’re so proud that this event has the special mission of continuing to raise much-needed funds and awareness for the Noreen Fraser Foundation.”
MacFarlane made his name as the toon titan behind “Family Guy,” “American Dad” and “The Cleveland Show.” More recently, he’s stepped into the spotlight as a singer and emcee of industry events. He hosted the season opener of “Saturday Night Live” last month, and will host the 85th Oscarcast in February.
