Company rolling as host of Electric Daisy Carnival fest
Electronic dance music promoter Insomniac Events has hired Simon Rust Lamb as the company’s first COO, Insomniac founder and CEO Pasquale Rotella announced on Tuesday.
As creator of the massively popular annual Electric Daisy Carnival fest, in addition to a host of other dance music events, the L.A.-based Insomniac has seen its stock soar in recent years, and the company has consequently spent the past year beefing up its exec ranks.
With a background as a lawyer, music writer and radio programmer, Lamb has served as Insomniac’s legal counsel for two years. His previous job history includes stints as an attorney for Lionsgate Entertainment, as well as a music director for an EDM program on radio station Indie 103.1.
“As Insomniac continues to experience tremendous growth, Simon is the natural choice for me to turn to for support,” Rotella said in a statement. “Simon’s strong understanding of the legal side of the music business, along with his previous tenure as an event producer and music writer, make him the perfect person to help Insomniac do what we do best.”
Last summer’s three-day flagship Electric Daisy Carnival event in Las Vegas drew over 250,000 attendees, alongside other dates in Florida, Colorado, Texas and Puerto Rico. This year’s Vegas iteration is scheduled for June 8-10, with the Carnival’s first East Coast dates planned for New Jersey’s MetLife Stadium in May.
