The dispute between the Intl. Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees and the Pac-12 Network remains unresolved, and IATSE is planning another round of pickets. The below-the-line union has notified members that it plans to set up strike lines Tuesday outside the basketball game at UCLA’s Pauley Pavilion, followed by a line on Thursday outside USC’s Galen Center in Los Angeles. It also plans to picket Saturday’s game at UCLA. IATSE announced on Dec. 8 that it had labeled the network an “unfair” employer for using non-union labor or a combination of non-union and covered labor side by side on the same job. The below-the-line union has picketed a dozen Pac-12 games during the past two weekends in support of unionizing broadcast technicians on the recently launched sports network. The Pac-12 Network has indicated it will continue to use non-union labor as part of a statement that it “respects the right for workers to decide on union representation.” The network, which went on the air in September, has contracts with Time Warner Cable, Comcast, Dish Network and Bright House Networks.
