Event will feature six indie pics in post production
Pics, which are in post-production, will compete for services worth $40,000 and distribution support at the Wroclaw-based event that runs Nov. 14-16.
U.S. in Progress, bringing together indie filmmakers and European buyers, holds closed screenings of films seeking completion funding.
In the line-up are the Porterfield pic, produced by Steve Holmgren and Ryan Zacharias; “Milkshake” helmed by David Andalman and produced by Mariko Munro; “Bluebird” by Lance Edmands and produced by Kyle Martin; “A Song Still Inside” by Gregory Collins, produced by Patricia Beaury and Rodrigo Lopresti; and two IFP Labs titles, “Cantuckee” by Kimberly Levin, produced by Kurt Pitzer, and “Hide Your Smiling Faces” by Daniel Carbone and produced by Matthew Petock.
Some 25 European companies, including France’s Wild Bunch, Reel Suspects and Sophie Dulac Distribution, Brit shingles Artificial Eye and The Works, Belgium’s Imagine Film, Poland’s Gutek Film and Polsat are skedded to attend along with programmers from the Berlin, Cannes and Locarno fests.
A jury will award one film with services including digital intermediate work worth $10,000 at Polish post and FX company Platige Image, up to 150 hours of sound editing or soundtrack work at Warsaw’s Soundflower Studio and post services by Krakow’s Alvernia Studios.
