Speakers tapped for second annual event
The organizers of TEDxBroadway, the Rialto-themed conference affiliated with the nonprofit idea salon TED, have set a January date for the event’s second annual outing and an initial roster of speakers including Disney Theatrical exec Thomas Schumacher, marketer-content producer Randi Zuckerberg and set designer Christine Jones.
The 2013 TEDxBroadway conference is skedded for Jan. 28 at Off Broadway’s New World Stages, with further speakers to be announced.
Event is prepped by the same trio who earlier this year initiated the inaugural outing, including Jim McCarthy, topper of online ticketer and promoter Goldstar; Damian Bazadona, founder of digital marketer Situation Interactive; and producer Ken Davenport (“Godspell”). This year’s edition will address the topic “What is the best that Broadway can be?”
Speakers answering the question during the day’s lineup of presentations will include Schumacher, the producer at Disney Theatrical Prods., as well as legit critic Terry Teachout, Seth Pinsky of Gotham’s Economic Development Corp. and Josh Harris, the founder of early Internet outlet Pseudo Programs. Jones (“American Idiot,” “Spring Awakening”) is tapped as the creator of Theater for One, a portable performance space for one thesp and a single aud member.
