Actress, d'Arcy James to host awards

Brooke Shields and Brian d’Arcy James will host the 57th annual Drama Desk Awards ceremony at midtown Gotham performance venue Town Hall.

The June 3 shindig, skedded a week before the Tonys, will see winners announced among a pool of nominees that includes Broadway revival “Follies” and Off Broadway outing “Death Takes a Holiday,” each scoring ten nods, and Rialto tuner “Nice Work If You Can Get It,” which nabbed eight.

Shields has appeared on Broadway in shows including “The Addams Family” and “Wonderful Town,” while d’Arcy James (“Smash”) is a legit regular whose credits include “Time Stands Still” and the title character in “Shrek the Musical.”

Bill Rosenfield pens the Drama Desk awards ceremony, to be staged by helmer Mark Waldrop. Joey Parnes Prods. is tapped to produce and manage the event alongside exec producer Gretchen Shugart as well as Robert R. Blume and David S. Stone in association with Renee McCurry.
