Mueller, Spinella join summer lineup

Jessie Mueller, Stephen Spinella, David Furr and Gideon Glick are among the thesps to sign on for Shakespeare in the Park this summer.

Mueller, who made a notable Broadway debut earlier this season in “On a Clear Day You Can See Forever,” will play Cinderella in the revival of “Into the Woods,” while Glick (“Spring Awakening,” “Spider-Man: Turn Off the Dark”) appears as beanstalk-climbing Jack. Ivan Hernandez (“Yank!”) plays one of the princes in a cast that also includes Jack Broderick (as the narrator), Cooper Grodin, Tina Johnson, Josh Lamon, Laura Shoop and Tess Soltau. Further casting remains to be set for the show, to be helmed by Timothy Sheader and Liam Steel.

Furr (“The Importance of Being Earnest”), meanwhile, comes aboard “As You Like It” as romantic lead Orlando while Spinella (“Angels in America”) takes on the “All the world’s a stage” monologue as Jacques. The previously announced Lily Rabe, Renee Elise Goldsberry, Omar Metwally and MacIntyre Dixon also will appear in the show, directed by Daniel Sullivan.

The 50th anniversary season of Shakespeare in the Park, the annual free theater series at the outdoor Delacorte Theater, kicks off with “As You Like It.” It runs June 5-30, with an opening night still to be set. “Into the Woods” starts previews July 23 prior to an Aug. 9 opening.
