Harry Potter send-up “Potted Potter: The Unauthorized Harry Experience — A Parody by Dan and Jeff” has been set for an Off Broadway run later this spring following successful stints in such cities as Toronto, London and Edinburgh.
Show has locked in a slot at the Little Shubert Theater, the commercial Off Broadway venue. The sked of the summertime stint, set to begin in May and stretch through mid-August, seems poised to capitalize on seasonal, family-oriented tourist biz.
The show’s two writer-performers, Daniel Clarkson and Jefferson Turner, offer a comically condensed version of all seven Harry Potter novels in 70 minutes. Production, which has played multiple stints as part of the Edinburgh Fringe festival, has met with strong reviews and robust sales in its prior outings, including the London engagement that recently netted the production an Olivier nom.
Off Broadway run will mark the show’s American preem. “Potted Potter” begins previews at the Little Shubert May 19 ahead of a June 3 opening.
