Disney tuner 'Newsies' preemed Thursday

The young Broadway debutantes of “Newsies” were giddy and gushing after Thursday’s opening of the Disney tuner.

Ben Fankhauser, 23, who plays one of the newspaper hawkers, declared, “My dreams are coming true.”

With good reason. The aud at the Nederlander Theater stopped the show after the “Seize the Day” number, giving the cast a standing ovation in act one.

“I just clutched my heart for my boys when I saw that,” said Kara Lindsay, who, like many in the cast, was making her Broadway debut, as a reporter who champions the newsboys’ cause.

Lindsay was sick on opening night but took the stage anyway. “By the time you’re onstage, you’re shaking,” she said of the opening night excitement, “but that might have just been the Prednisone.”

Leading man Jeremy Jordan, 27, is a Broadway veteran by comparison, having opened “Bonnie and Clyde” late last year. “I feel great,” he said after the performance. “After all the press and the rehearsals and the hoopla, you just want to get up and do your show, you’re excited to give it wings.”
