Lloyd Webber scores award

Composer receives songwriter fellowship

Andrew Lloyd Webber will receive a Fellowship of the British Academy of Songwriters, Composers and Authors (BASCA) at this year’s Ivor Novello Awards for songwriting on May 17.

In addition to 14 previous Novello trophies, Lloyd Webber has an Oscar for song, a Golden Globe, seven Tonys, five Oliviers and three Grammys.

“It is always an honor to receive an award, but I am particularly thrilled to receive this Fellowship from the British Academy of Songwriters, Composers and Authors, who do so much to promote and encourage British music writing,” Lloyd Webber told Variety. “I have been lucky enough to spend my life doing something that I love; to be recognized in this way by fellow musicians and lyricists is extraordinary.”
