Broadway musical sets partial casting

Beth Leavel and Mark Jacoby are among the thesps who will appear in the upcoming Broadway run of “Elf,” reprising parts they played in the title’s initial Rialto outing in 2010.

Valerie Wright and Michael Mandell return for show as well, with new addition Adam Heller also joining the cast.

Leavel (“The Drowsy Chaperone”) and Jacoby (“Showboat”) will once again play a married couple whose lives are disrupted by a long-lost son who was raised as one of Santa’s elves. Several roles remain to be cast, including the title character played in 2010 by Sebastian Arcelus, who’s in the cast of the upcoming Netflix series “House of Cards.”

Produced by Warner Bros. Theater Ventures in association with Unique Features, the Broadway incarnation of “Elf” has a book by Thomas Meehan and Bob Martin with songs by Matthew Sklar and Chad Beguelin. Casey Nicholaw (“The Book of Mormon”) directs and choreographs.

Timed to coincide with the year-end holidays, “Elf” kicks off its nine-week run Nov. 9.
