Group Sales Box Office, the 50-year-old company that’s one of Gotham’s major sellers of Broadway tickets to group buyers, is set for a merger with the group sales offices of Broadway.com and Broadway Across America, two branches of Key Brand Entertainment.
GSBO prexy Stephanie Lee will continue in the same post at the joint venture. She’ll serve as topper of the newly merged companies in consultation with Jerome Kane and Matt Kupchin of Key Brand’s interactive division, along with Key Brand COO Miles Wilkin.
All of Lee’s staff will move with her into the Broadway.com offices in midtown Manhattan, with the agglomerated group sales activities operating under the name Group Sales Box Office.
Move is the latest step in Key Brand’s efforts to pump up the national profile of Broadway.com, which Key Brand acquired in 2010. A Broadway League survey recently cited Broadway.com as the outlet to which theatergoers seeking info about stage productions turn most.
Both Broadway.com and Broadway Across America, a producing and presenting org on Broadway and on the road, operated pre-existing ticketing businesses for groups, including nationwide sales to touring Rialto shows.
Lee has been with GSBO for some 20 years, serving as president of the company for the last 10.
Key Brand CEO John Gore said the merger was initiated to consolidate, solidify and expand Key Brand’s ticketing activities. “Now we’ll be able to use Stephanie’s expertise across all areas,” he said.
