De la Tour to topline Bennett’s ‘People’

Hytner to helm play's world preem at National Theater

LONDON — Frances de la Tour, Tony-winner for Alan Bennett’s “The History Boys,” will star in the Brit scribe’s world preem of “People” in October at the National Theater.

Helmed by a.d. Nicholas Hytner, “People” is the seventh of the scribe’s dramas to premiere there. Previous NT collaborations between them include major hits “The History Boys,” “The Madness of George III” and “The Wind in the Willows.” Their most recent collaboration was “The Habit of Art.”

Three-time Olivier winner de la Tour will be joined by a cast including Linda Bassett, Selina Cadell, Peter Egan and Nicholas Le Prevost. All further details of the play, aside from its contempo setting, remain under wraps.
