Daniel Stern, Zoe Perry and John Schiappa will join Laurie Metcalf in Manhattan Theater Club’s Broadway production of Sharr White’s drama “The Other Place.”
Stern, who makes his Broadway debut in the show, is new to the title following its 2011 Off Broadway bow, an MCC Theater production that also starred Metcalf as well as Schiappa. Stern (“The Wonder Years,” “Diner”), taking on a role first played in Gotham by Dennis Boutsikaris, portrays the husband of a neurologist (Metcalf) suffering from a mysterious ailment.
Perry, who is Metcalf’s real-life daughter, appears as the neurologist’s daughter in the show.
Joe Mantello, helmer of the MCC staging, returns to direct the MTC production, which begins perfs later this fall following MTC’s current Rialto offering, “An Enemy of the People.”
“Other Place” begins previews Dec. 11 ahead of a Jan. 10 opening at the Samuel Friedman Theater, MTC’s Broadway venue. Company’s upcoming Off Broadway lineup includes the latest by Terrence McNally, “Golden Age,” toplined by Bebe Neuwirth and Lee Pace, and the new tuner “Murder Ballad.”
