Baldridge exits Playhouse

Leader to retire after 32-year tenure

Harold G. Baldridge, exec director of the Neighborhood Playhouse School of the Theater, will retire from his post this summer after 32 years on the job.

Playhouse, founded in 1928, has helped train a string of thesps including Robert Duvall, Diane Keaton, Allison Janney, Christopher Meloni, Mary Steenburgen and Sherie Rene Scott, among others. Baldridge, also a director and designer, graduated from the Playhouse in 1960 prior to running theaters in Woodstock, N.Y. and Calgary, prior to taking over as director at the Playhouse in 1981.

After his retirement, Baldridge will remain linked to the Playhouse as an adviser in an emeritus position.

The Playhouse’s board aims to have a new exec director in place before the school’s 84th year kicks off in September.
